jcpenney is one of the nation’s leading champions of the afterschool movement. In 2004, we launched a benchmark study with the Afterschool Alliance, a nonprofit advocacy organization, to understand how students were spending their time after school. Five years later, we dove deeper into the issue by producing the America After 3PM report, the most comprehensive national research project on the afterschool issue. Compelling data revealed that one out of every four students in the United States is unsupervised after school every day, signifying that more support is needed to meet the growing demand.
